Inpatient hospital treatment

If outpatient treatment is not enough, sometimes only a stay in hospital will bring the desired improvement. In such cases, we will cover the costs of your inpatient hospital treatment.

How it works

 

Your doctor will issue you with a hospital referral. At the hospital, you present this together with your insurance card - and you're on the safe side: billing takes place directly between the hospital and us.

Free choice of hospital

Your attending physician will discuss with you which hospital is suitable for your treatment. In principle, you have a free choice of hospital. We will cover the costs for all legally approved hospitals - regardless of whether they are close to you or further away, if medically necessary.

The assumption of costs for private clinics is generally not provided for.

Is rooming-in paid for children?

For children up to the age of 9, we cover the costs for an accompanying person. Older children will be assessed on an individual basis.

What additional payments are due?

A statutory co-payment of €10 per day applies for a maximum of 28 days per calendar year.

Desired benefits? Optimally supplemented with supplementary insurance

Single rooms or treatment by the head physician are not part of the statutory care. For more comfort, we recommend supplementary insurance through our partner Barmenia Krankenversicherung a. G.
