What began in 1857 in the Fürstlich Hohenzollernsche Werke as a "Bruderlade" is today a modern company health insurance fund with a clear compass: ZF BKK - your health partner with a history and a future.

The beginnings: Health out of responsibility

The roots of today's ZF BKK go back to the year 1857, when the "Bruderlade", a company health insurance scheme, was established at the Fürstlich Hohenzollernsche Hüttenwerke. Zahnradfabrik AG Friedrichshafen (now ZF Friedrichshafen AG) also recognized the importance of company health insurance at an early stage - in 1918 it founded the "ZF Betriebskrankenkasse" with 334 members.

What began as protection for company employees developed over the decades into a strong health community - always with the aim of supporting people in every situation in life.

Opening up and growth - health for all

Until 2002, the company health insurance fund was reserved exclusively for employees of the ZF Group and their families. But in 2003, we shifted into the next gear: The fund opened up to external policyholders - with the aim of remaining close to the company's DNA.

In 2004, we merged with BKK Müller Weingarten and BKK Fürstlich Hohenzollernsche Werke to form "BKK ZF & Partner". Further company health insurance funds followed in 2005, 2008 and 2009.

A strong community - networked nationwide

Today, over 240 employees look after more than 98,000 insured persons and around 15,300 employers - personally, digitally and always on the right track.

 

Room for health - our new home

Growth needs space. In 2014, the Board of Directors decided on a new main location: Otto-Lilienthal-Straße 10 in the Competence Park Friedrichshafen. Only two kilometers away from the previous headquarters, this modern company location not only offers more space, but also

2025: New brand image, clear stance

We will open a new chapter in July 2025: BKK ZF & Partner will become ZF BKK.

What looks like a rebranding at first glance is actually a clear statement:

These three terms characterize our new brand world - and stand for what we are all about:
A reliable healthcare companion that listens, thinks along and breaks new ground - without abandoning the tried and tested.

At a time when the healthcare system is becoming more complex and confusing, we see it as our task to provide you with guidance. We want to help people to live healthy lives - and to feel safe in doing so. Our new brand identity makes this visible.
