When children are ill, they need the full care of their parents. It is often difficult to reconcile work and care. We support you during this time with child sickness benefit - so that your child's recovery can take priority.

Requirements for child sickness benefit
- Your child has statutory health insurance and is under 12 years old
- You yourself are entitled to sickness benefit (e.g. as an employee)
- No other person living in the household can provide care
- The employer does not pay a salary (e.g. due to a collective agreement)
During vocational training, there is an entitlement to continued payment of the training allowance by the employer. In this case, no child sickness benefit is paid.
