Skin cancer screening
Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, but also one of the most underestimated. As skin changes usually develop visibly, skin cancer can usually be detected early - and this significantly improves the chances of recovery. We cover the costs of statutory skin cancer screening for you and also offer you Skin ScreeningPLUS from the age of 15.
How skin screening works
The examination can be carried out at a dermatology practice or as part of a health check-up.
The doctor takes a specific medical history, asks questions about changes or complaints and inspects the entire surface of the skin for conspicuous areas.
The aim is to detect and treat early stages or precursors of skin cancer in good time.
How to obtain the benefit
Statutory skin screening from the age of 35:
- From your 35th birthday, you are automatically entitled to a free skin screening every two years.
- To do this, make an appointment with a dermatology practice. Alternatively, you can have the examination carried out as part of a health check-up.
Skin ScreeningPLUS from the age of 15:
- From the age of 15, you can take advantage of our additional Skin ScreeningPLUS service every two years.
- To do this, make an appointment with a participating dermatologist's practice.
- If your doctor does not participate, we will be happy to help you find a suitable practice.

- Statutory service: free of charge every 2 years from the 35th birthday
- Skin ScreeningPLUS: free of charge every 2 years from your 15th birthday
