Second opinion for cancer diagnoses
A cancer diagnosis is a major turning point. Serious treatment decisions often have to be made within a short space of time. Many of those affected would like a second medical opinion - but uncertainty regarding organization, procedure and costs often stands in the way of this wish. This is where we come in: with a cooperation with the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in Heidelberg.
The path to a second opinion
The personal presentation takes place in a special consultation at the NCT in Heidelberg. There, the previous diagnostics and treatment planning are reviewed once again by an interdisciplinary team of experts. Specialists from oncology, radiotherapy, surgery, pathology and other disciplines work closely together.
You will then receive a written treatment recommendation. This will be sent to you by post and can be discussed with your attending doctor. You make the final treatment decision for yourself.
Participation requirements
Participation is possible in the case of an initial tumor diagnosis or a relapse (recurrence), provided no therapy has yet been started. The costs for the second opinion are covered by us. The aim is to ensure that further treatment can take place close to home in familiar structures.
